Kosice Old Town Walk

As the largest city in eastern Slovakia, Kosice boasts an impressive number of protected monuments, making it a captivating destination. The tour begins at the Lower Gate, from where we will proceed to the highlight of Kosice – the St. Elisabeth Cathedral. En route, you will pass notable landmarks such as the Gester House, the Shire Hall housing the East Slovak Gallery, and a park featuring a bronze statue of the Kosice coat-of-arms. While admiring the exterior of the Gothic Cathedral of Saint Elizabeth, you will marvel at its grandeur. Inside, the cathedral houses a rare Gothic double spiral staircase. Other notable sites include the 14th century St. Michael Chapel, the St. Urban’s Tower, the eclectic facade of the State Theatre, and the historic 18th century Old Town Hall.
During the tour, you will also have the opportunity to visit the Miklus Prison, which now houses a museum, and the Executioner’s Bastion – the largest bastion in Slovakia. Jakab’s Palace, City Park with Marai’s sculpture, and the Peace Marathon Square surrounded by impressive buildings, such as the Division building (seat of Kosice Self-governing Region) and the East Slovak Museum, are also included in the itinerary.
