Grand Tour of Slovakia – 11 days

We want to show you the most impressive sites of Slovakia. Our country is dotted with numerous historical and cultural sites as well as unique wonders of nature. You will discover the landmarks and the most interesting places of Slovakia. You will learn more about its culture and history. And this tour will provide you memorable experiences. We offer you a 11 day tour around Slovakia.

Day 1

We will pick you up from the airport in Bratislava and take you to your hotel. In the evening you will meet with our guide who invite you with a Welcome Drink and give you more information about your tour itinerary.

Day 2

You will start your day with a breakfast and then you will take part in a sightseeing tour of Bratislava. The capital city of Slovakia has a lot to offer, so be prepared for a truly interesting tour. Among numerous historical monuments you will see, there will be Primate Palace – a place where the Treaty of Pressburg was signed. You will see the Hall of Mirrors with the mysterious tapestries and the Cathedral of St. Martin as well as the gate of Michael. You will take a pleasant walk along narrow streets of the Old Town. You will continue your tour by mini bus. During the drive you will have a chance to admire the former fortification walls, the presidential palace and the Bratislava castle. Driving through the Small Carpathians you will be amazed by stunning views of vineyards, charming former royal towns. You will reach the town of Modra and have lunch in a cosy restaurant and then you will head toward the Red Stone Castle where a magnificent collection of furniture and furnishings can be admired. After leisure time you will come back to Bratislava. Overnight in Bratislava.

Day 3

After breakfast, you will have a scenic drive to the north east. You will visit the picturesque former mining town of Banska Stiavnica. The most interesting landmarks of Banska Stiavnica are the Old and New Castle situated on opposite hills. Most of monuments can be found between the Holy Trinity square and the Town Hall Square. During a lunch break you will have a chance to taste traditional meals and local beers. Then, you will head toward Banska Bystrica where you will visit the Museum of Slovak National Uprising and take a pleasant walk around the Old Town. Overnight in Banska Bystrica.

Day 4

The next night you will spend in Kosice. But before you get there, you will see many wonderful historical sites and nature wonders. You will visit Vlkolinec – a picturesque village inscribed into UNESCO’s list as folk architecture reservation. You will be able to admire unique old traditional architecture of log houses. Additionally, you will see other interesting sites such as a little square, a baroque chapel, a wooden belfry and a folk museum. The another point of the tour, it will be one of the oldest ice caves in Europe – the Demanovska ice cave. The cave is located in the quaint mountains of the Low Tatras. You will have lunch in Spisska Sobota and have a chance to take a pleasant walk around this marvellous town exploring its corners. Then, you will continue your tour to Kosice where you will stay overnight.

Day 5

After breakfast, our guide will take you on a walking tour around the Old Town of Kosice. Kosice is a huge metropolis and the second largest city of Eastern Slovakia. You will visit the impressive Gothic Cathedral of St. Elizabeth, St. Michael Chapel, the museum of Eastern Slovakia as well as you will see Jakab palace, the State Theatre, St. Urbain’s Tower. Then, you will have free time. Overnight in Kosice.

Day 6

This day is dedicated to exploration of a unique town of Bardejov. However, before you get there, you will see the charming 15th – century wooden Roman-catholic church of St. Francis of Assisi in Hervartov, which is considered to be the oldest and best preserved wooden church in Slovakia. In Bardejov you will have a chance to discover one of the most beautiful medieval towns with admirable architecture, stone walls with bastions, churches, narrow cobbled streets, and more. You will see St. Egidius church and will have a possibility to admire fantastic views over the city from the church tower. You will take a pleasant walk around the Old Town Hall and see the City walls. Overnight in Bardejov.

Day 7

After breakfast, you will head toward the most precious monuments of Spis – the Spis Castle. This 12th – century castle is considered to be one of the largest castles in the Central Europe and one of the most important national cultural and historical symbols of Spis. It was inscribed into UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1993. In the close vicinity to the castle, there is located Spisska Kapitula which is called “Slovak Vatikan”. You will visit both Spisska Kapitula and the Cathedral of St. Martin. You will continue your tour to the 13th – century town of Levoca which is considered to be one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe. You will see many beautiful monuments such as the Roman Catholic church of St. Jacob from 14th century with the highest wooden Gothic-style altar in the world. You will visit museum and take a nice walk around the wonderfull Old Town. Then, you will drive to Stary Smokovec where you will stay the next 3 nights.

Day 8

In this day, you will have a great chance to explore wonderful areas of the High Tatras Mountains. We will take you on a drive to the top of Skalnate pleso from where a scenic views can be admired. You will continue your tour on foot. Taking a pleasant walk you will experience beauty of nature as well as you will see the oldest tiny mountain cottage and waterfalls. You will try tasty Slovak national meal Bryndzove halusky. Then, you will come back to Stary Smokovec.

Day 9

We will take you on a real exciting trip to the National Park of Pieniny, which is located in Poland. You will explore the area of Dunajec River Gorge in wooden rafts during special rafting tours. You will take part in 1-hour rafting through the wonderful Dunajec River Gorge. The River of Dunajec creates a natural border between Poland and Slovakia. You will have lunch in a regional restaurant where local specialities are served. Overnight in Stary Smokovec.

Day 10

You will eat delicious breakfast and head toward Orava. You will visit an open-air Museum of Orava where you will learn more about the rural life from the past centuries. You will continue your tour to the Orava Castle which was erected after the Tartar invasion in 1241. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful castles in Slovakia. It consists of several buildings copying the shape of the castle rock. After visiting the castle you will go to Bratislava. You will stay overnight there.

Day 11

After breakfast, we can offer you a private transfer to the airport.
